Edmund Rice Camp- Chicago 2017
Edmund Rice Camp is inspired by the vision of Edmund Ignatius Rice and is based on the gospel values that inform Catholic Social Teaching .
Our theme for 2017 was Supremely Blessed: a reminder that we all have much to be thankful for. Because we are blessed by God, every person has the right to be treated with dignity, respect and love. By creating an environment where this is possible, we hope to make a difference to the campers and to engage our leaders in reflective action with and for others.Through prayer, reflection and prayer activities we hope to make the campers aware that they are Supremely Blessed and that they should bring that message to their corner of the world.
We aim to provide a quality summer camp experience to children from St. Margaret of Scotland, St. Christopher and Nathan Hale in a way that allows campers to more fully realize their potential. We offer a wide range of activities – sports, swimming, team games, presentations, arts & crafts and prayer. 2017 highlights: juggling, Virtual Reality explorations, the World of Reptiles, a magic show, creating your own personal pizza, and discovering chemistry facts. Additionally we participated in daily student leader prepared prayer with hands-on prayer activities centered on this year’s theme: Supremely Blessed. There is no charge for participants at camp: all monies are raised through fundraisers and donations from school families and from local merchants.
We strive to develop leaders who will go out to serve the larger community using the skills Edmund Rice Camp has helped foster.
